From Humble Beginnings- A Journey Of Creativity & Purpose

Growing up in a family where creativity was woven into everyday life, I learned from an early age the power of transforming ordinary spaces into things of beauty. Weekends were filled with home renovations, woodworking projects, and gardening. My parents were true masters of their craft. A jack of all trades.

As I ventured into adulthood and started a family of my own, I found myself drawn to the art of design. With each quirky rental we inhabited, I saw an opportunity to experiment with different styles and layouts, always striving to create a space that reflected our values and fostered connection.

One memorable rental was a rundown mobile home in Canmore, Alberta. Despite my initial reluctance, I poured my heart into making it a home. Through thoughtful planning and creative solutions, I transformed the cramped space into a cozy haven that earned the nickname "the Pinterest house" among friends and neighbors. It was in this humble abode that I discovered my passion for turning houses into homes, one thoughtful detail at a time.

When we finally settled into our own 1950s cottage-like house, complete with original cabinets and layers of vintage wallpaper, I saw it as a blank canvas waiting to be brought to life. From carefully selecting paint colours to scouring Pinterest for inspiration, I poured myself into making every corner of our home a reflection of our family's personality and values.

But it wasn't until 2021 that I decided to pursue a more formal education in interior design. Despite the challenges of being a single mother of four, I enrolled in the Interior Design Institute with determination and excitement. Though the journey took longer than anticipated, I completed the program and received my diploma in March 2024, with a newfound sense of accomplishment and readiness for the next chapter.

My vision for Ordinary Made Beautiful is simple: To help clients create spaces that not only look beautiful but also support meaningful connections and cherished memories. I believe that home is more than just a physical space; it's where our most precious moments unfold, and it deserves to be celebrated and nurtured.

As I embark on this new chapter of my journey, I am filled with gratitude for the lessons learned and the experiences that have shaped me. With creativity as my compass and purpose as my guide, I look forward to bringing beauty and meaning into the lives of those I have the privilege to serve.
